A PART OF MELBOURNE FASHION WEEK 2018

Now in its third year, Kangan Institute’s Rags to Runway program addresses growing environmental and ethical concerns about textiles manufacturing and waste in the fashion industry. The program challenges Diploma of Fashion Design and Merchandising students to rethink how and where materials are sourced for work, and to explore creative ways to reinvigorate recycled materials.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS

This year's show show will feature unique collections made by fashion design students using recycled garments donated by Red Cross Shops. In line with this year’s theme, Great Southern Style, the designs will be inspired by the Australian landscape, flora and fauna, Indigenous culture and iconic Australian fashion designers past and present.

“We are proud to join hands with Australian Red Cross to work towards a sustainable fashion future. Our Rags to Runway program prepares our students for dynamic careers where they can make positive and responsible contributions to the fashion industry as a whole,” said Trevor Schwenke, CEO of Kangan Institute.

It’s the not to be missed Melbourne Fashion Week event for anyone who cares about sustainable fashion!
